Parking Permits

In order to park on campus, students must purchase a parking permit from the THS main office.  The parking permit is only good for one school year and must be prominently displayed in the car when the car is on campus.  Students who have valid parking permits may only park in their assigned space. Students who park on campus without being assigned parking permits are subject to disciplinary action, a fine, and/or their car being towed at their expense.


Thomson High School Parking Permit purchase dates are as follows:

July 8-11, 2024

Seniors

July 15-18, 2024

Juniors

July 22-25, 2024

Sophomores


Students must pick up a parking application from Thomson High School’s main office on the aforementioned dates between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. 


When returning the application to the main office, the following is required:

  • Completed application with parent or legal guardian’s signature
  • Student’s valid driver's license
  • Up to two vehicles can be registered with each parking permit
  • Proof of insurance for both cars if applicable
  • Tag Registration for both cars if applicable
  • $30 application fee
 

Students who park on campus without parking permits are subject to disciplinary action and/or their car being towed at their expense.

 
 
Rules for Students Driving and Parking on Campus
 
1. Students who drive on campus must rent a parking space and purchase a parking permit from the principal’s office. The cost of the space and permit is $30 per year.
2. All motorized vehicles parked on campus must be registered in the principal’s office and must be parked in the correct rented parking space unless special permission has been obtained from a school administrator.
3. Parking permits must be displayed on the rear view mirror of the vehicle at all times while parked on campus.  These permits are non-transferable and cannot be shared with another student.
4. The student may purchase additional parking permits for $5.00 each in case the original permit is lost or stolen.
5. Students who drive on campus must obey safe driving practices at all times. The speed limit on campus is 5 miles per hour. Speeding or reckless driving while on campus or while leaving school may result in short term or permanent loss of parking privileges.
6. Students who drive on campus must be licensed (not a learner’s permit) and covered by insurance. The vehicle must be registered to the student or the parent/guardian. The school is not responsible for the vehicle or its contents.
7. Student vehicles are subject to search by school officials any time there is reasonable grounds to believe that drugs, alcohol, stolen property, or other contraband might be present in a vehicle.
8. If a student withdraws or transfers to another school, his/her space is then voided and the space is available for reassignment.
9. Faculty parking area is off limits to students and parents.
10. Students are not to LOITER before and after school in the parking lot.

SUSPENSION OF DRIVING PRIVILEGES, TOWING OF VEHICLES, AND/OR SUSPENSION
FROM SCHOOL MAY OCCUR WHEN ANY OF THESE REGULATIONS ARE VIOLATED.

Should any of these violations occur, money will not be refunded for any unused time.
