Due:
Please take this test. You can write your answers on notebook paper.
Due:
Today we reviewed all the things we learned about positive guidance.
First, complete the worksheet that is titled " Using Positive Guidance". This is where you will turn a direction stated negatively to one that is stated positively.
For example (look at #1 on your paper)-- Instead of "Don't stand on the slide" you should say "When we slide, we sit on our bottom"
Remember: when giving directions, state them positively, don't use the words "no", "don't", "stop", "quit", and always give the direction of what you would like to see them do NOT what you want to them to stop doing.
Next: highlight the guidance strategies 1-14 and review them. Make sure you understand each one and what it means.
Then: Complete the "Solutions to Misbehavior" worksheet--read the scenario and then write which guidance technique(s) you should use according to the situation and the child's age. Use guidance strategies 1-14 to answer these scenarios. Remember: time out should be used as a last resort or if a child is doing something to put themselves or others in danger and time out is one minute per the age of the child. Reasoning typically doesn't work well with young children, but can work great for 4 + years.....Biting comes from frustration.......children only need 2 choices and the adult needs to be fine with whichever choice the child chooses.........
Then, quiz yourself using the worksheet titled "Guidance Techniques"--read the technique and try to identify it without looking at the sheet with the 14 strategies. Then check yourself--use this to study for your test tomorrow--open note!!!!
What to turn in: Using Positive Guidance worksheet and Solutions to Misbehavior worksheet
Extra: The Ron Clark Story (optional--I've given you the safe you tube link and the regular link so hopefully one will work for you.

This is an employability skill--teamwork.
If you have any questions about anything please email me.

1. Play Kahoot review for vocabulary and major concepts in infant develpment
2. Test will be Wednesday--it will be open note so make sure your notebook is organized in chronological order in the "NOTES and HANDOUTS section". Make sure you have all the bellringers!!!!
3. Last, we will begin infant health/safety.
Standard: 6.6 Determine strategies that promote the health and safety of an infant.
Today our lesson will be about developmental needs of infants--infants can do nothing for themselves so they depend on us to care for them.
View the videos which include all of the videos we need to watch. The links to the videos are also on the 2021 Infant Care Video Viewing Guide.
Answer each question(s) under each video link.
You will use your notes to take a quiz on Friday over infant care.
Why is infant care included in the health and safety module? Because caring for an infant meets their developmental needs--they need to be fed, burped, bathed, clothed, soothed, put to sleep, and exercised because they can not do these things alone. When developmental needs are met, infants are safe and healthy. And their physical, intellectual, emotional, and social needs are met.

Bellringer: Write these two questions down: What nutrients are needed during pregnancy and why?
What are the main food groups?
What foods/drinks should be avoided during pregnancy?
We will answer these during our video so your bellringer is to WRITE THESE QUESTIONS.
1. View the following videos to help prepare for our lesson on prenatal nutrition.
View the Weight Gain and Pregnancy video as a review. View the exercise during pregnancy as a review.
View the link below: eating healthy during pregnancy. (March of Dimes)
Answer the following: What nutrients are needed during pregnancy/why?
What are the main food groups--there are 5?
View the link below "Foods to avoid or limit during pregnancy" and answer this question: What foods/drinks should be avoided during pregnancy?
2. For this assignment--brainstorm whole (not processed) foods that belong in each food group. Use google if you have to. Processed foods are found on the inside aisles of the grocery store and whole foods are found around the perimeter.
For example, for vegetables, you would NOT write down veggie sticks (typically found in the chips/crackers/snack food aisle) because that is a processed food. You would write down carrots, tomatoes, etc.
When you brainstorm, please do not limit your list to only foods you like. We will use this work to plan meals for a pregnant woman, not for you. Our pregnant woman is NOT a picky eater--she likes everything!! Keep that in mind.
3. Directions: 1. Look at the attached hand out from myplate.gov about nutrition requirements for pregnant women. We will be focusing on servings of each food group, not calorie counting each individual food item.2. Use the hand out from #1 to help you plan ONE day of nutritious meals for a pregnant woman. View the video to help you with the meal plan we will do together!
4. Have someone help you look over your menu to make sure you use all the servings required in one day.
5. Take a picture or upload your document with your meal plan--use the "turn in"/"my work" feature please.
****remember: DO NOT COPY MY MEAL PLAN*****

Remember, you can use your notes from the power point on 8-5-2021
If you need the quiz read aloud to you, please click the loom link below to hear me reading the quiz. If you do not require this, please open the google form attachment and take the quiz.
1. Please view the video from Zoom BEFORE you complete any work (it is from last year but the content is the same so I am not making a new video)
2. View the characteristics of development power point. Two are included--one that I showed on my video (colorful/cute), and one that matches the guided notes (plain/black and white).
3. Complete the guided notes and upload to this assignment. The power point that matches these notes is the PDF file below that says "notes on characteristics of development." Sorry if that is confusing.
