Honors World History (Period 2)

Course Description

Hey Guys,
 
Until we're back in school, I will be posting assignments here on my website. I will post files here that you can download to work on. I will also have the work available for pick up at the school. You should be able to open all files through google docs, if you log into google with your student profile. If you have any trouble with anything like that, just email me and let me know. As you complete assignments, you can share it or email it to me at [email protected]

These assignments will prepare you for our test over Unit 6 that we'll take when you get back. However, as the cancellation continues, I will just move on and post assignments for our next unit.

Assignments for week of 3/23-3/27
Hey Guys,
 
I have attached two power points titled Unit 7-3 Absolute Monarchs and WH - Absolutism and Rev. These two power points would be where we would get our notes from for this unit. Make sure you review them before you work on the two assignments below. Don't stress about any upcoming tests or anything. Whenever we return to school, we will do plenty of reviews to make sure you guys are ready before we test out of Unit 6 and 7.
 
- Absolutism Resume Project
  - Choose a ruler from the list and follow the directions to create a resume for them. It's easiest to choose a          resume template from google docs and fill it in once you have researched your monarch. Just search                resume template on google docs.
- Absolutism-Revolutions Study Guide
  - Use the power points that I have added to the files to find the answers to this study guide. You may also look      the answers up online. This study guide is to prepare you for the test over this unit, when we return.

Assignments for week of 3/30-4/3
Hey Guys,
 
I don't have a lot of new assignments for this week, mostly just power points to cover more of the material from this unit. Technically we are in Unit 7 which is over rulers and revolutions. However, the new power points for this week will say Unit 9. Don't worry about that. The new power points are over the American Revolution, French Revolution, Latin American Revolutions, and Napoleon. You may have already come across a lot of the material in these power points, but they should help you more with filling out your study guide for Unit 7. Other than that, there is just one assignment to actually work on if you are able to:
 
- French Rev Timeline
  - Follow the directions and put the list of events in order. With the current situation, you may create the                  timeline in any way that works for you. As long as the events are in order and described. I would still                  suggest just using the website in the link though, if you have access to it.

Assignments for week of 4/13-4/17

So, as more official instructions and information has come out about our situation, I've decided to change up what I'm posting for you guys. From here on out, I will only be posting instructional materials like power points, videos, articles, etc. My new focus is to provide you guys with the rest of the World History material you need to set you up for your US History class next year. We still have to cover Imperialism, the Industrial Revolution, and the World Wars, which are all going to be big topics in US History. Now, for those of you who have been sending me work, I will give you extra credit for any of the work you've done over the past few weeks, but we are not to be grading what we assign you anymore - UNLESS you were failing when we got out of school. If you were failing, you are allowed to make up assignments to bring your grade up. So far, all I'm posting for this week are the power points for this unit. They all have Unit 10 in their title. I'm going to look for some videos to post later as well.

Assignments for 4/20-4/24
Hey Guys,
 
This would usually be the time of year where I show Black Panther to go with our imperialism unit. As you hopefully know from last week's material, imperialism is basically when a strong nation colonizes or uses a smaller, weaker nation for its resources. The movie Black Panther draws a parallel between fictional Wakanda and real life Ethiopia, as Ethiopia is the only African nation to not be colonized. (It is briefly taken over by Italy in WWII, but never officially colonized.) If you have access to the movie (Disney Plus, DVD, or however you kids watch movies these days), I have attached a link to a good movie guide activity. If anyone has any questions or wants to discuss anything further, please feel free to email me. I will be posting power points for the next unit tomorrow, and I'm also thinking about maybe setting up a specific time each week to play a gimkit. Be on the lookout for that.
 
 
Assignments for 4/27-5/1

I have a few updates for you. First of all, the policy for grades has changed one more time, and this is final. If you were failing 3rd 9 weeks, you may only work to get your grade up to a 70 (that hasn't changed). Here is the new policy for those of you who were passing: each student may do up to 10 extra assignments - worth a full point each on their final grade! So if you had a 90, you can do 10 assignments to get you up to 100! Now, I know this doesn't really help those of you who already had a 100 average. So, if you are already at a 100, you do not need to do anything I've already posted, or will be posting, unless you just want the practice. For those of you that have been working since we've been out, I have not yet updated your final grade with these bonus points, as this policy has just become official. So, by the end of this week, I will have everybody's grades caught up with their bonus points included. I encourage all of you who do not have a 100 average to do 10 assignments to help your grade. This is a great opportunity to help your GPA that you usually wouldn't get!
 
As far as new work goes, I will be posting new reference materials this week for our next topics: World War I and the Russian Revolution. I will also post a few extra assignments from the previous units, to give you guys more extra credit opportunities. Please email me if you have any questions!

Assignments for 5/4-5/8
Hey Guys,
 
First and foremost, I want to remind you guys to PLEASE take advantage of this extra credit opportunity. I didn't get much sent in last week. I did update the grade book at the end of the week, for those of you that did send in work. If you sent me something, and your grade hasn't changed, please let me know.
 
Anyway, this week's activities will cover World War II. I will post the power points and a few different assignments that you can work on. Typically, I would have shown a movie for WWI and maybe even 2 movies for WWII. I'm going to see if I can find something for you guys to watch, and maybe add an activity for that too. I'm looking for movies that are on Netflix or something like that, so it can be easily accessible for most of you, hopefully. Other than that, I'll probably post a couple video links throughout the week to add on to what we've been doing. I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy! Assignments for 5/11-5/15
Hey Guys,
 
First of all, I've been getting a lot more work recently, so keep it up! I update the grade book at the end of every week. So, if your grade hasn't updated by Friday, email me to check in, and I'll fix it! All I have for this week is more power points about the Cold War and Vietnam, Global Issues, and Weapons Proliferation. No new assignments. There should be enough on here for you guys to get the extra credit, but if you need more work, you may write ten facts from any of the video links that I have posted from last week. Message me if you have any questions!
