The inaugural Georgia John Deere Mechanics Competition took place at Blanchard Equipment in Waynesboro Tuesday, Nov. 19, with the Thomson High School team taking home first place honors! The Thomson High team included (l-r) Wyatt Gergen, Preston Wright, Walker Workman and London Brooks. The event was the first of its kind in Georgia, hosted and sponsored by John Deere and the Georgia FFA Association. Teams rotated through four 15-minute stations including tool and parts identification, electrical trouble-shooting, spark plug gapping and torque, and piston ring placement. The team is coached by Rick DuBose and Jason Brooks.
