PRESS RELEASE- January 14, 2021
Due to increases in positive COVID-19 cases in McDuffie County, the McDuffie County School System has made the decision to extend virtual learning until Jan. 22. All face-to-face students will return to school on Jan. 25.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
Chromebooks and hotspots were reissued to face-to-face learners in November. These devices can be used to access assignments, which will be posted in Google Classroom. Questions about assignments may be directed to your child’s teacher via email.
Learn from Home students will continue to receive their instruction and assignments through Google Classroom and are not impacted by this change.
Internet access points remain available at the following locations.
ATTENDANCE / PARTICIPATION
Attendance during this time is mandatory and will be determined by participation in sessions and completion of assignments. Please ensure your child logs into Google Classroom to access live and recorded instruction and to complete assignments.
MEALS
Breakfast and lunch meal deliveries will be made at 10:00 a.m. each day by the McDuffie County School System Transportation Department utilizing the previous requests made by families. Any additional requests should be directed to Christie Cook at 706-986-4027.
THS END-OF-COURSE TESTING
Winter 2020 End-of Course testing is suspended, and make up sessions will be rescheduled in February 2021. Questions about the testing schedule can be directed via email to Assistant Principal Sonya Strong at Thomson High School ([email protected]).
RETURN TO SCHOOL FOR FACE-TO-FACE LEARNERS
The district will continue to monitor public health as well as student and staff attendance data with a plan for face-to-face students to return to campus on Jan. 25, 2021. Should the closure need to be extended, families will be notified as soon as possible.
