Visual Arts
My name is Tina Swann, I am the visual arts teacher at THS. I am in my 28th year teaching in the McDuffie County School System. I am originally from Alpharetta, Georgia; however, after marrying my husband, Mark Swann, (THS Class of 1987), I have become a true Thomson Bulldog! We have three sons--Cam (THS Class of 2016), Carter (THS Class of 2019), Cooper (THS Class of 2026) and one grandson, River (Class of 2034) . We are firm believers in our school system and are truly blessed to remain a part of the Thomson tradition.
I graduated from Brenau University with a degree in Early Childhood Education in 1996. I taught one year at Blythe Elementary, but then was hired on at Thomson Elementary the following year. I spent the first 14 years of my career at Thomson Elementary and loved being able to mold the minds of the youth in our town. My passion however is in art, when the position became available, I applied and was hired on at Thomson High as the visual arts teacher. I also hold a M.Ed. in Reading Education and am a certified reading specialist. I currently hold a certification in Art Education.
I truly believe everyone has the ability to be an artist, it's my job to help them find their way. I look forward to meeting you and sharing my love of art with each of you.
