Dr. Afolabi's Bio

Hello Everyone!

 

I am Dr. Angel Afolabi and I am from Harlem, Georgia.  I graduated from Harlem High School in 1986.  I am a proud Graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta, GA where I majored in Environmental Science with concentrations in Mathematics and Biology.  I later obtained a Master's in Curriculum and Technology, and a Ph.D in Curriculum and Instruction.  This is my 31st year as an educator, and I eagerly look forward to teaching and learning with you.

 

I absolutely love Math.  It has always made sense to me.  It always came easy to me.  When I realized that was not the case for everyone, I knew that I had to share my gift with others.  First, I began doing so with my friends in college, which reaffirmed that I had to be a Math teacher.  Now, I share my gift with all students who enter my classroom.  I have had the pleasure of teaching all around the world, but there is no place like home, and I am ecstatic to be back in the USA teaching at Thomson High School.  This school year will be what we make it.  So, let's get off to a great start and make it great!
