     We are proud to welcome you to Luther Welsh Field at The Brickyard. The McDuffie County Board of Education and Thomson Bulldog Athletic Booster Club have worked hard to make our stadium a top-notch venue. Our Wall of Fame, which is located near the main entrance on the home side, features 17 alumni and coaches who have either earned athletic letters at Thomson High School, made a significant contribution to athletics and the community, or both. Of those 17 enshrinees, six are members of their respective college’s hall of fame, and one is a member of The Pro Football Hall of Fame.

 

     Thomson High School is committed to providing a safe and comfortable gameday environment for both home and visiting fans. Please help us provide this by following the policies outlined further along in this guide.
     

     While we have policies in place, we ask that all visitors to The Brickyard take personal responsibility for their
own health and safety and that everyone utilize the “Bulldog Way” of being respectful, responsible, and ready.

•     Only GoFan digital tickets or Georgia High School Association (GHSA) passes may be used for entry into
THS football games. No physical tickets will be sold at the gate.
•     All GoFan tickets must be purchased and presented on a mobile phone. Pictures or printouts of GoFan
tickets will not be accepted. We encourage you to buy your GoFan ticket before Friday afternoon, because
many fans will be attempting to purchase tickets at that time. GoFan tickets are $10 each, plus a $1
convenience fee per ticket.
•     All ticket sales are final. In the event that a contest is canceled, the ticket will remain good for the
rescheduled date. No refunds will be given if the game is canceled without a makeup date.
•     GHSA passes will be checked at the pass gate to the right of the main entrance.
•     To align with Georgia High School Association guidelines, the McDuffie County School District only
allows transparent bags into sporting events. This helps us streamline safety screenings.

•     No loitering is allowed near the concession stand or in walkways.
•     We ask that no spectators go on the field after the game has been completed. We want to keep our
student-athletes safe.

•     No outside food or drink is allowed in the stadium.
•     The concession stand is operated by our THS Band Boosters. It is situated on the home side, a few
yards away from the pass gate.
•     Kona Ice will also be available at selected games. It will be positioned on the home side near the bus
entrance.

•     Photosensitive patrons should be aware that the stadium lights will blink or flash at certain times during
the game, such as after scoring drives or interceptions.
•     Anyone that may be negatively impacted by that strobing effect should be prepared to take proper
precautions.

 

•     In August 1938, the original Thomson High School building that stood across main street from the
stadium was struck by lightning and burned to the ground.
•     The brick from the ruined school was salvaged and used to build a wall around the football field, giving
the stadium its iconic name.
•     In 2014, the stadium field was named after Coach Luther Welsh, who won 183 games and three state
championships during his 19 years as Thomson’s head football coach.
