hey there I'm sorry I didn't see you smile Christmas is Christian Rosier welcome to my classroom let's take a seat welcome I'm a teacher here at Thompson High School this is my fourth year here and I absolutely love teaching at the school I graduated from I'm so glad you joined you today let's go and take a look around what is are look at my desk sorry about all the mess we've been out of school for quite a while with this pandemic so I'm still get back on track I know things have been a little different and sometimes that's scary but we're all in this together no matter if we're learning in the classroom or if we're choosing to learn from home to check out my pictures here what represents a subject I teach the person represents English language arts will dive into topics such as author's Choice main idea in full diamond to novel such as The Great Gatsby the Twilight Saga Frankenstein and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn the middle picture represents social studies will touch on topics such as US History world history American government and show me the things that we'll discuss include personal finance banking the Civil War the Great Depression in the third picture represents our career and life skills class will focus on topics such as teamwork communication time management will complete life skill activities such as cooking cleaning and doing laundry I'm glad you can come and join me once again here you can see our Thompson High School grading policy we have four areas with me Grade daily homework which represents 10% of your grade quiz and lab that represents 30% of your grade test essays and projects with represents 40% of your grade and also your final and which represents 20% of your grade also there's a link here for the Taunton High School Code of Conduct and the Thomson high school student handbook I will show you those in just a little bit let's slide on over to the next page are Google Classroom codes will be using Google Classroom this year both in physical school as well as for virtual learning your code is 7 in e ww.w AC that seems really confusing but don't worry we will talk and video chat as well as Zoom to help you understand how two years Google Classroom so don't worry you don't have to figure that out here all day that's going to be a separate video as we dive into how to operate Google Classroom from home and in the classroom, can't begin to become more independent I am so excited doll and this is there's a lot of changes this year yes we can all look at changes that something this is scary but I see it as a fun opportunity to switch things up a bit typically we go off campus for work to different job sites however what's a pandemic I feel like that is not such a safe option for us this year so we're going to dive into work opportunities at school we're going to dive into some farming and agriculture activity cleaning and sanitation activities if these organizations stocking life skills so we still will be doing Hands-On work at opportunities but we're doing it while at school isn't that exciting but let's remember we have to stay healthy both at home and at school there are four ways you can do this wash your hands wear a mask stay home if you're sick and be sure to social distance social distance seems like a big Words Press sometimes so don't worry our first week that you're back to school there's a video to tell us exactly what social dist but it's simply making sure that you keep a safe distance between you and the others if you need to get in touch with you with me this year where is my email Rosier see at McDuffie.
