I would like to welcome you to the 2021 edition of Senior Honors Night. Thank you for braving the elements to give honor and credit to all of the hard work that they've done over these past four years. There are just a few things I want everyone to remember. Please we're trying to stay safe so masks must be worn for the entirety of the program and also as long as you're in the building. And we ask that you not congregate once the assembly is over. Once the program is over you are go ahead and make your way out of the building. First we'll have the presentation of colors by NJROTC Cadet Cameron Rumba. Ladies and Gentlemen please stand: I Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all. Thank you Cameron. We will now have the devotional by Libby Derry. Good evening. Let's pray together. Dear God, we thank you for this day that and for the many blessings and opportunities that you've allowed in our lives. Lord, we also thank you for bringing us this far in our academic careers and allowing us the successes that we've had this far in our lives. Although this past year has tested everyone physically, it's a blessing to say that we've made it to the final of our High School career. God, give us the strength to continue in the path that you've made for us and the resilience to stray away from things that fail to glorify you. Thank you for each and every one of my extraordinary classmates and please keep them safe places to go into this archangel let us be thankful for the past dead faster than present and lead us through our futures. God, we love you and thank you again for all the blessings you've placed our lives. Amen. Thank you Libby. Now we will have our awards and scholarships. Floyd cell popping and Leadership as a high school athlete text United States Marine Corps text distinguished athlete award to Sawyer Watley and lose it at the high school at Alaska certainly not least I think 3/4 takes pleasure in presenting a Scholastic Excellence award to ABR music let's give them another round of applause please you may be seated next to Community Foundation scholarships are presented by Chris Rhonda and Anna Wallace good evening graduation to all of you singing Trust that your dreams do come true 2014 movies out of order just a little bit in 2014 we created the roof FYI scholarship to honor the Legacy and eventual memory of Ruth F Wallace and I called grandma grandma was an educated here in McDuffie County for 30 years she taught the same Sunday school class of Thompson Presbyterian it's been over 40 years helping in the family business Grandma had a lot of teaching and even up into her eighties y'all computer students and she was one of those teachers you didn't want to get till after you get we created this scholarship honor her love of teaching and to help a young person reach for their dream tonight we wore the 8th root that while the scholarship which is a renewable scholarship for $1,000 per year four year just saw your wife about three years ago I began to call play the funding of another scholarship this scholarship would be geared towards a student seeking a technical school degree I understand that every student desire the four-year college degree but every student that seeks to further their education can use assistance when it came time to name the scholarship only one person came to mind and that was Charlie Turner Charlie began working for us when he was a junior Here Thompson High School he's now been a valued employee at Wallace and son for right at 45 years Charlie possesses the characteristic that any employer would like to see on their team he's loyal he's Dependable is humble he doesn't mind helping other any other work ethic I should be in G Charlie come to work day in and day out and sent to get the job done whatever he's been tasked to do that day he gets it done without drama without an attitude and more time to navigate to. correct these are some of the characteristics that calls me to Arnhem with this scholarship in his name I asked Charlie she wanted to be here tonight help prevent the scholarship and he feel like he didn't know I'm going to make him do it my first time is my great arm isn't the Charlie C Truman scholarship which is a renewable scholarship for $1,000 per year up to two years to David work let's give them another round of applause please next we have the FC Butch Dent Memorial Scholarship and it will be presented by mrs. Amy McCoy good evening my name is Baby for cord and I'm a family nurse practitioner here in town I come from a long line of CHS alumni I'm a graduate of talk to her it was my father but she can't my dad was dedicated to the field of medicine for over 40 years after graduating from THS he enlisted in the Navy as a corpsman and eventually became of the dishes in Orthopedic he passed away suddenly in 2012 and in his memory my brother and I are sleeping it would like to honor him by establishing the scholarship daddy loves his work he loves people and continually stopped to improve his knowledge in his practice this scholarship is meant to continue his legacy by preparing the next generation of healthcare how much is one bar at the memorial you have established a scholarship for physician assistant students enrolled in an accredited degree program Festival this year's applicant for impressive at least you didn't leave me inspired by their dedication and hard work enjoy reading about these young scholars and their accomplishments as well as their dreams and aspirations for the future we have a lot to be proud of coming out of town so many of these young people I have watched grow in the two were into the compassionate and enthusiastic people we have already seen right to stage tonight if it were up to me everybody would receive are there all deserving but tonight I would like to award the annual SC but aunt morial scholarship it Cameron have please give another round of applause next we have the greater Augusta Association of Realtors president's youth scholarship and that will be presented by Messner over Mall and everybody what's in a regular mod and I am one of the directors of the greater Augusta Association of Realtors and as a realtor you all know that we serve everyone and we brought it special privilege to be here tonight and he'll one of the community scholarship winners to actually achieve we love to give back to the community for scholarships this year with able to give out $142,000 worth of the scholarship winners tonight or Benjamin Cushman and saw your wife let's get these young men another round of applause you made me see it next we have the Jefferson energy Cooperative scholarship and that will be presented by Miss Miranda Youngblood good evening and Miranda going to be here tonight to represent Jefferson energy and the Jefferson energy Cooperative Foundation Foundation began back in 2003 unique program called Mason Ramsey Rams we have been able to donate 3.7 million dollars over the past 17 years to local charity educational programs Community project in our living County service territory in addition the foundation also Awards scholarships and relate to graduating high school seniors to reside in a home survey Jefferson energy the scholarships are awarded in a merit badge good academic achievement Community involvement related activities and a written essay considered in the selection process so now it is my pleasure is in the Jefferson energy Cooperative Foundation scholarship in the amount of $4,000 to each of the following students Imani call me Peyton McCord Macy's Kaylee Tam and Sawyer Whatley it's also my pleasure for send a $2,500 scholarship to David let's give them another round of applause please you may be seated next we'll have the Delta Sigma Theta scholarship and it will be presented by Miss Stacy's fan correction does Jeanne Simmons good evening could not get here she's traveling so I'm the designated one on the half of the members and our president faces fans members of the Charleston alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta sorority he was a very happy to prevent this scholarship to MIT Selena Bentley let's give her another round with next we will have the coach Luther Wells Memorial Scholarship and it will be presented by mrs. Taylor Whipple sitting on behalf of the world's family I am his granddaughter and I will be presenting the Memorial Scholarship tonight to Cameron Wells next we will have the bowling score athlete Awards presented by dr. Mac Bowman okay on behalf of doctor Bowman I would resent this award these Awards pardoning Whatley and the same goes to Angel locket let's give them another round of applause next we will have the Robert Enochs Memorial award and the dentist by mr. Bob Knox Junior like it gives me a great deal of pleasure this evening to be here I graduated from Thompson High School in 1962 I guess that makes me one of the old instead of going to go to the knights not quite but almost it's a real pleasure to be here to Ward's the name for our Father Robert Knox they are given by The Knocks family families belong time supporters of everything that is public Jason is about in this community it recognizes a senior male and a senior female athlete and if it recognizes athletic performance as letting Hashim but it also represents leadership courage character and school involved that's the last year war lovasco Winfrey and now a boy appealing to Young Folks we have a few other awards for which presenters going to be here this evening the Diane Graham is Angela Lockett are you pleased to present our valedictorian Miss Kaylee Tam let's go to the Northtown Mall mr. Brown if you will come up the end of our program as always we would like to go food with the alma mater so after Mister DJ Brown leads us in the alma mater we will dismiss thank you again for coming out on this Wednesday evening
